Binge Eating Disorder: My Story

It’s been almost two years since I was diagnosed with binge eating disorder. I remember the day vividly. I was sitting in my therapist’s office, and she said the words that would change my life forever: “I think you might have binge eating disorder.”

I was in complete shock. I had never heard of binge eating disorder before, and I had no idea that it was a real thing. I thought I was just a really bad eater. I thought I was lazy and undisciplined. I thought I was the only one who struggled with food the way I did.

But as my therapist explained the symptoms of binge eating disorder to me, I realized that I wasn’t alone. I realized that my relationship with food was actually a disorder. And I realized that I needed help.

Since that day, I’ve been on a journey to recovery. It hasn’t been easy, but it has been so worth it. I’m finally starting to love and accept myself, and I’m finally starting to feel like I have control over my eating.

If you’re struggling with binge eating disorder, I want you to know that you’re not alone. I want you to know that there is hope. Recovery is possible, and I am living proof.

My story is just that: my story. Everyone’s experience with binge eating disorder is different. But I hope that by sharing my story, I can help you to understand this disorder a little better. And I hope that my story will give you hope for your own journey to recovery.
