Our history and philosophy

History

Central Region Eating Disorder Services (CREDS) began in January 2007, after the former provider (Eating Disorder Services) withdrew from operation in December 2006. Since January a number of new staff have come on board, representing a range of disciplines and skill-bases. The service now employs 23 staff, many on a part time basis.

Philosophy

We see eating disorders as a coping strategy arising in response to personal, familial, cultural and societal pressures. We work towards challenging social values and belief systems, helping people address underlying issues, and mobilising a person's capacity for self-healing.
